MR. ALAN THIMMIG

Principal

Welcome to Liberty High School, home of the Lancer Nation. I am honored to be the Principal of this amazing school.

I am now in my 28th year in education.
I have spent my first ten years as a high school business and marketing teacher and am starting my 18th year as an administrator – all at Liberty.  I was an Assistant Principal and activities director for seven year and am now enjoying my 11th year as Liberty’s Principal.
I am a graduate of Hot Springs High School in the Black Hills of South Dakota (Go Bison!), received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion (Go Coyotes!), a Masters of Education from Colorado State University, Fort Collins (Go Rams!), and received an administrator’s license from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (Go Mountain Lions!). I love being at the high school level and watching our students transition from teenagers to young men and women. Your students are receiving a world class education from a dedicated staff who put student learning first.  When I am not at school or attending school functions, I like to spend time with my wife, kids, and dogs. I am a big fan of football and soccer and like to play video games whenever there is some spare time.

MS. KELLY HOYLE

Assistant Principal

I was raised in a small town in eastern Colorado and feel extremely proud to have been born in this beautiful state.

I earned my bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado (GO BEARS). My lifelong dream of becoming an educator and the passion for teaching students became a reality in the fall of 2003. In my sixteen years in education, I have attained my master's degree in Educational Leadership and principal licensure from Adams State University and served as an English teacher, department chair, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal. I am beyond grateful that my educational path has led me to Liberty High School, home of the Lancer Nation. This decision has enabled me to serve and support the LHS student body, staff, and parents along with the District 20 community. I will be starting my third year at Liberty and sixth year as an Assistant Principal serving the Class of 2020.

MS. LIANNE THIESSEN
Assistant Principal & Activities Director

Welcome students and parents to Liberty High School! I am privileged to be a part of the Lancer Nation and serve as the Assistant Principal for the Class of 2022!

This is my first year at Liberty, but it is my 18th year in education. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in Human Development.  I started my educational career teaching middle school in Arizona and upon moving to Colorado Springs in 2004, I began teaching mathematics at Doherty High School. In 2008, I earned my Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. After teaching for 15 years at Doherty High School, I am looking forward to serving the Lancer Nation as an Assistant Principal and Activities Director. I am passionate about activities, athletics, and helping students find their niche in high school. When I am not working, I spend time with my dog, my friends, and my family. I love to cook, read, watch sports, and work out. I am looking forward to an exciting school year!

MR. MICHAEL SIBLEY
Assistant Principal & Athletic Director

I am a D20 graduate (AAHS ’89), and a 1994 graduate of UCCS with Bachelor of Arts in History.

I completed my teaching license through Regis University in 1996, and received a Masters in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2003.  I also earned my Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) certification through the NIAAA in 2014.   This is my ninth year as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Liberty High School, and my 27th year in education. I will be serving the Class of 2023.
MR. IVAN CHAMBERS
Assistant Principal

Hello Liberty students and parents and welcome to (or back to) the Lancer Nation! This will be my 9th year at Liberty and my 19th year serving in Academy District 20, but my very first year as an administrator.

I am excited and honored to be serving as the Assistant Principal for the Class of 2021.   In addition to teaching for 18 years, I also served as a varsity basketball coach for 16 years, including the last 7 seasons as the boys' varsity basketball coach here at Liberty. Before I began my educational career in D20 in 2001, I was an officer in the United States Air Force, making a tough decision to leave active duty after 12 years of service so my family could stay in Colorado Springs.  I am a graduate of Southwest Baptist University (MO) and began my first stint in teaching in 1981 before entering the Air Force in 1985. My undergraduate degree is in Physical Education and Biology.  I also have two master's degrees, one from the University of Northern Colorado (Sports Administration) and the other from Grand Canyon University (Secondary School Administration).  Both of my kids graduated from LHS (1997 & 2000), and I now have a grandson that is a junior attending LHS this year.  My passions are athletics and working with high school students while watching them grow and mature into young adults. It is an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be a part of the Lancer Nation and I am excited for what the new school year will bring.

MRS. ALISHA DONALD
Student Interventionist & Dean of Students (Class of 2020 & 2022)

I am excited to join and support the students, staff, and parents of Liberty High School as the Dean of Students and Academic Interventionist! I grew up in a small town outside of Rochester, NY and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Earth Science from the State University of New York at Brockport. After college, I worked within the National Park Service, assisting in data collection for several different ecological studies. After a trip back home, and shadowing my middle school science teacher, I developed a strong desire to teach and decided to return to school to pursue a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I completed this degree at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. I have taught science at a secondary level for 17 years, and completed my Certificate of Educational Leadership, earning my administrative license, through Western State University in 2017. My husband and I have two children and we spend our time traveling, fishing, camping, and enjoy skiing in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. I am proud to now call myself a Lancer!

MRS. MELISSA HERNANDEZ
Student Interventionist & Dean of Students (Class of 2021 & 2023)

Welcome to Liberty High School! As a Liberty graduate myself (Go Lancers!), I am very excited for the opportunity to be back at Liberty!

I have been a teacher in the state of Colorado since 2010.  I earned a degree in Child and Adolescent Development and received my teaching license from California State University-Fullerton. In December of 2018, I earned a Masters in Leadership as well as completed the Principal Licensure program at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. My husband and I have 2 beautiful girls and when I am not at school, you will find us spending time as a family enjoying hikes in the mountains, and trying out new restaurants around town. I am looking forward to a great year at Liberty!
