Matthew Sisson, Principal

I started teaching and coaching in Ohio before moving to Colorado. My goal for going into education was to create a learning experience for all students to engage and explore to discover their own passion for learning. Watching the Lancer community come together to support our students and build a community where all students thrive is what it means to be a Lancer to me!

Go Lancers!

Kelly Hoyle, Assistant Principal

Kelly Hoyle has a bachelor’s degree in English with emphasis in Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado (GO BEARS!) and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Adams State University. She started her educational career at Fountain-Fort Carson High School where she taught English for ten years and served as the department chair. She was then the dean of students for two years and an assistant principal for 3 years before coming to Liberty High School in Academy District 20. Ms. Hoyle has a true passion for supporting teachers and believes if you take care of teachers, they will take care of students. She is proud to be a Lancer and is grateful for the opportunity to serve wonderful students and staff.

LiAnne Thiessen, Assistant Principal

I started my career in Arizona teaching middle school and then taught high school mathematics for several years in Colorado Springs School District 11. Five years ago, I made the shift from the classroom to administration to help make an impact at a larger scale. I chose education as my career field because I have a passion for working with students and helping them achieve their academic goals while encouraging personal growth through extracurricular activities. Being a part of the growth of both students and staff members brings joy to my heart and further instills my passion for education. Outside of my job, I spend time with my labradoodles, Wrigley and Maddux and my family and friends. My personal interests include watching sports, golfing, cooking, attending Broadway shows and concerts, reading, playing the piano, and traveling.

David Thomas, Assistant Principal & Athletic Director

Mr. Thomas has been in Colorado Springs for over 20 years and in education for over a dozen of those. During his time in education, he was a social studies teacher and coached basketball and soccer primarily. He got into education because of his family's involvement in high education and wants to provide opportunities for all students.

In his free time, he spends time with his family and loves to travel, having been to over 15 countries. Being a Lancer has been a dream to lead such an incredible community.

Heather Conyers, Dean of Students

I began my education career as a middle school math teacher and taught for 14 years before starting this year at Liberty High School as a Dean of Students. I have spent my time teaching in various cities as a military spouse, which has given me varied experiences to help navigate my teaching and administrative career.

Outside of school I like to stay busy with my family by hiking, camping, and skiing. We enjoy traveling and try to take a vacation together at least once a year.

I am excited to join the Lancer team and look forward to an amazing school year!

Kaitlyn Epperson, Dean of Students

My name is Kaitlyn Epperson. I am a military spouse with three children, and we love camping, overlanding, and traveling. I began my teaching career 7 years ago when stationed in Tennessee as a middle school math teacher. After moving to Colorado Springs, I spent three years at Eagleview Middle School teaching 6-8 mathematics until becoming a Dean of Students at Liberty High School. I love being a part of the high school community and getting to know all of the kids at LHS.
