All About Band
The Liberty Band Program exists within a family atmosphere, where students always have a home during their free time at school in the band room, where students consistently seek out each other to offer academic help, and where students support each other in their musical endeavors.
The Liberty Band Program has a very supportive and active Band Booster organization. Without the help of many parents, friends, alumni, and family members, the band program would not have the opportunity to achieve the success that it has enjoyed in recent years. The Liberty Band Program is provided with the opportunity to thrive due to the support of a fantastic Administration Team at Liberty High School, within Academy School District 20.
Accolades
Liberty Bands have achieved success at the local, State, and National level. In addition to regularly receiving “Superior with Distinction,” “Superior,” and “Excellent” ratings at concert band festivals, the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band was chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2027. Additionally, both the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band have qualified for, and performed at, the Colorado Bandmasters Association State Concert Band Festival. In 2026, the Wind Ensemble advanced to the State competition where they received an "Excellent" rating.
The Liberty Jazz Bands and Jazz Combos have also received consistent Superior ratings at the nationally renowned UNC Jazz Festival. Most recently, Scarlet Jazz Band was awarded a "Superior" rating by every judge in 2026 at the UNC Jazz Festival with multiple students receiving awards for outstanding solos.
The Marching Band maintains competitive success by frequently advancing to Semi-Finals and Finals in their State competition. The marching band has finished in the top three 7 times, and in 2016 won their first-ever State Championship. Additionally, the Marching Band strives to remain competitive at the National level by frequently participating in Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, most recently in October 2019.
