Open to Juniors and Seniors

Automotive Service Technology is a district offered CTE class open to juniors and seniors within ASD20. Automotive Service Technology is an application-based class and is approved at the district level. Liberty High School is proud to offer Automotive Service Technology on-site and taught by Liberty teachers.

What will my student learn throughout the program?

In this first course of a two-year course sequence, students participate in real-world auto service training through maintenance, diagnosis, removal and installation of specific automotive drivetrain components.  Students focus on industry standard processes and safety procedures in the environment of a working auto shop.  Students learn through competency-based instruction that leads to an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) student certification and a Lifting it Right certification through ALI.  Students will gain a foundation for entry-level employment or further schooling/training. Students will have the opportunity to gain up to an additional 9 certifications based on student performance in the class.

Who can apply?

Incoming ASD20 juniors and seniors. Applications for our CTE classes open in the spring for the following school year.

Are there any Pre-Requisites?

There are no pre-requisites required to take Automotive Service Technology.

Liberty also offers an Introduction to Automotive for Liberty students.

How long is the program?

Automotive Service Technology 1 is a year-long class.

Liberty also offers Automotive Service Technology 2 after completion of Automotive Service Technology 1.

What will students receive at program completion?

Students who complete the program will receive:

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Maintenance and Light Repair Certification

  • Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) Lifting it Right: School Edition Certification

  • 4 Core Elective High School Credits (2 per/semester)

Students may also receive the following certifications, based on student performance and desire to pursue additional certifications. These certifications are at no additional cost to students.

  • ASE Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification

  • ASE Manual Drive Train and Axles Certification

  • ASE Brakes Certification

  • ASE Engine Performance

  • ASE Suspension and Steering

  • ASE Automobile Service Technology

  • ASE Engine Repair

  • ASE Automatic Transmission and Transaxle

  • ASE Heating and Air Conditioning
